SHIIP, the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program, is a FREE community service provided by Richmond County Aging Services. We do not sell insurance. SHIIP was created by the North Carolina Department of Insurance to help senior citizens obtain free and unbiased counseling on Medicare health care products, and volunteers receive specialized training on how to answer questions about Medicare.
SHIIP provides valuable information and counseling about Medicare and insurance-related issues, including:
Medicare prescription drug plans
Long-term care insurance
Other health insurance concerns

Do You Need Help Paying for Your Medicare Prescription Medications?
If have limited income and resources, you may qualify for Extra Help, a federal low-income subsidy, to help pay your prescription drug costs. Receiving this help will not change your monthly Social Security benefits. (This program is not available to Medicaid recipients).
INCOME LIMITS are $1,471.25 per month for an individual and $1,991.25 per month for a couple living together.
