The Tattoo Program regulates the safety of tattooing by inspecting
the sanitation and infection control procedures of tattoo artists. Tattooing permits are
issued in the name of the individual tattoo artist at a specific tattoo
establishment where the artist practices and are nontransferable to another
person or place of practice. Each tattoo artist
must complete a training program approved by the Department in Universal
Precautions or present proof of having satisfactorily completed a course of
instruction in Universal Precautions before being issued a permit to engage in
tattooing in Richmond County.
